The Rural Policing Liaison Group is working with Stafforshire Police to run training courses for Staffordshire Police officers and police forces nationally on Rural Crime issues.
The one day refresher course includes wildlife and rural crime issues. Officers are taught how to deal with situations such as:
- issues of poaching of deer, game and fish
- illegal trade in birds and theft of eggs
- badger digging and baiting
- habitat issues
- aggravated trespass
The group are well aware of the costs of wildlife crime which often leads onto more serious crimes in the countryside, i.e. farm thefts, drugs and vehicle thefts
A condensed one day course is also offered for magistrates, and the Crown Prosecution services.
177 Police officers and 133 magistrates have attended
training courses run by us since 2002.
